You MUST have a connected DVB-S card for this to work.
1. download dvbguide at http://www.dvbguide.com/ (freeware)
2. download Bigscreen EPG for windows 7 at http://bigscreenglobal.com/defaultbg.aspx (betaware for now)
3. create a directory to download your epg xmltv from YES (I use egpdata)
4. unzip the files from dvbguide to this directory
5. run an administrator command prompt, go to the above directory and type:
DVBGuide.exe -aS -c10889 -s27500
This means -aS (DVB-S card), -c and -s are YES's symrate and frequency.
There is a great pdf file that explains all of the switches very well.
6. You have now created a full XMLTV (called dvbepg.xml).If you open this file in Wordpad (not notepad
since it cannot handle the size), you will notice that ALL programs have titles and descriptions for:
English (EN), Hebrew (HE), Russian (RU) and Arabic (AR).
7. Install as administrator Bigscreen EPG for windows 7
8. Run Bigscreen EPG and click on the Providers tab. Click on Add provider, select xml files from local system, and chose the dvbepg.xml at the location that you created.
9. There are several bells and whistles from this program but I want to talk about one great feature:
Click on the Advanced tab, click on Language Settings and check Check/Filter... In the box enter:
en
This will select entries from the dvbepg.xml file with the <en> metadata only, thus ignoring every other language.
10. click on the overview tab and click on Generate Data and import to Media Center. If there are no errors, open media center
11. this is the tedious part, you must now change the location of each channel to point to the
new epg for english. Go to Settings > Edit Channels > Double click on Channel Name > Edit Listings find the corresponding english name and listings for that channel and select save. Repeat for each channel that you want English EPG data for.
I have had FULL english titles and descriptions for a week now without any problems!
Good luck
Great info, thanks! Can you
Great info, thanks!
Can you confirm the quality of the English guide? I looked at it a long time ago and the accuracy/completeness was terrible.
english content

I can confirm that the epg from the DVB-S is almost 100% complete for all channels. This includes:
Program Title
Program Description
Program short Description
