VMC record multiple instances of seriers' episodes

Hi,

just managed to get my deployment of MegaEPG to work, the DVB-S card is on an XP machine, media center is running on a vista machine, the MegaEPG generated files are being copied from the xp machine to the vista machine (and an HTML file is being updated to hold the right link to the guide).

but it seems that VMC cannot tell between multiple instances of the same episode (e.g. I selected 'record series' for the series Dollhouse, and got 5 recordings of episode 11).

i tried to configure MegaEPG to generate an XMLtv file, and import it into MCE using epgstream's xmltv loader, same result.

looking into the xml file, i found that there is no unique identifier for every series (so i guess the matching is done by name), and that the instances that were scheduled have the same name and the same episode number.

i thought maybe the fact that i'm using an XP machine to generate the binary/xml guide has something to do with this, so i tried the ynet script (on the vista machine), and again - same episodes of the series were scheduled for recording.

is this a known issue?
is there something i can change in the xmltv file to make sure the binary file will be generate correctly?
or maybe some secret setting in vista media center?

Thanks.

Same in Vista

I have had the same problem in vista for ages. It is annoying and would love to know if it can be solved.

vista EPG format

i couldn't find the specification of the vista's EPG file format, do you know where i can find it? or is there an API for building up a binary EPG file?

Thanks,
