You can either email me with some information about your country (TV providers, their Web sites, existing solutions/scripts to grab the EPG from). If you are familiar with programming, especially with Python programming, you can submit a script for your country as well, when the scripting API will be available.
The MegaEPG supports Israel, South Africa and Norway. Other countries will be added sooner or later.
No, the MegaEPG is not an Open Source project. It has an open API which has to be documented yet, but the sources are not publicly available.
The story is short. When I thought on how to name my EPG grabber, I suddenly looked at my living room HTPC (which is a MSI's MegaPC 865Pro series) and the name was born. And no, MSI doesn't make any good HTPCs so that was not an advertisement!
There are many EPG grabbers out there, indeed. However I wasn't able to find one which was a) fast but accurate, b) easy to install and configure, c) working with the native MCE/Vista guide formats. Some of them require too much as prerequisites (once I had to install a few versions of .NET and a few versions of the Java Runtime to try a single grabber!), others are too slow and stress providers' servers heavily. I didn't like existing solutions because they are not friednly for the end user. Besides, most of the grabbers obtain only basic information while I was interested in as perfect grabber as possible: I wanted programs' original name, year of production, episode numbers parsing, stars rating, etc. The MegaEPG project is a try to implement these ideas:
